TEP has provided specialist planning advice, including environmental assessment, to several large projects for trading of electricity between different countries. These include:
Isle of Man Interconnector - This has connected the Isle of Man’s and England’s electrical systems since 2000.
Basslink – An interconnector between Tasmania and Victoria, Australia commissioned in 2005.
North Sea Interconnector (NSI) - Planned to connect Norway to the UK. TEP was responsible for managing the UK consents for the project.
BritNed - TEP has prepared the environmental assessment of the UK terrestrial components for this connection between England and the Netherlands.
East-west Interconnector – A link between Wales and Ireland. TEP carried out feasibility studies and consents and environmental advice to the project team.
