TEP carried out site selection and feasibility for the BritNed electricity connection between England and the Netherlands and has since undertaken the co-ordination and project management of the environmental services related to consents for the onshore components of the connection.
TEP advised on consultation prior to submission of the planning applications, preparing material and attending consultation exhibitions close to the converter station site.
The environmental assessment for the onshore works was produced by TEP, planning permission was granted and the interconnector is currently nearing completion.
TEP has advised on risks and mitigation throughout the project. During the project construction unforeseen issues arose relating to third parties. TEP successfully secured additional planning permission and Section 37 consent for changes to the originally consented design identified to minimise overall risks.
