Bickershaw North is located in Wigan and is part of the Homes & Communities Agency (HCA) National Coalfields Programme.
TEP was appointed as masterplanner for the reclamation and regeneration of the 256 hectare site and produced a series of masterplan options, focused on leisure, recreation and tourism related uses.
TEP worked closely with HCA, Wigan Metropolitan Borough Council and a multi-disciplinary project team, including Engineers and Economic and Leisure Consultants, to ensure a creative and sustainable solution was developed.
TEP also prepared exhibition material for a series of public consultation events to guide the masterplanning process. The masterplan options formed the basis of an application to the ODPM to secure funding.
