TEP prepared a Strategy for management and enhancement of the District’s Green Infrastructure, taking account of growth, climate change, green space distribution and sustainable transport. Key to the strategy was the need to consider the effect of population growth on important natural, cultural and historic landscapes.
The strategy also provided guidance on how the town of Newark-on-Trent could accommodate growth in sensitive landscapes whilst providing sustainable transport opportunities, enhanced biodiversity networks and access to natural greenspace.
The strategy builds on existing initiatives along the River Trent and, following Examination in Public, is now part of the District’s Core Strategy.
