TEP was appointed by Rochdale Metropolitan Borough Council to carry out a qualitative and quantitative assessment of greenspaces in the borough, together with recommendations for future improvements to sites and networks.
A comprehensive desk review was undertaken, examining national and regional best practice. Existing surveys and Borough-wide environmental strategies were reviewed. A desktop study analysed the functionality of each greenspace. Site surveys of priority areas were carried out. Potential and existing green networks and corridors were identified along with recommendations for improvements to design and management of spaces.
TEP’s work is being taken forward through a green infrastructure strategy for Rochdale.
