TEP was appointed by Nottinghamshire County Council to prepare a Landscape Character Assessment for the Greater Nottinghamshire area.
The study was undertaken to provide important evidence to inform the Local Development Framework of five local authorities: Gedling, Broxstowe, Ashfield, Nottingham City and Rushcliffe. To ensure the protection of the landscape this document will aid development control decisions on planning applications and inform negotiations of planning obligations.
As part of the assessment TEP undertook a number of consultation events with key stakeholders and councillors to ascertain the value placed on local landscapes in the District by the local community.
The sensitivity and strength of the landscape within policy zones was assessed in order to judge their capacity to accommodate change.
