TEP was commissioned by Leicestershire County Council to undertake a detailed assessment of landscape character within Charnwood Forest, an area of distinctive landscape to the north of Leicester.
TEP identified a series of landscape character areas and explored settlement characteristics and their relationship to the wider landscape.
The landscape was assessed using land use typologies and GIS mapping. These areas were then assessed and verified in the field by chartered Landscape Architects.
A set of management guidelines and policy recommendations were established for each character area to ensure distinctive characteristics are conserved, protected and/or enhanced.
The area is proposed as a potential Regional Park and the study included an assessment of a possible Regional Park boundary, including stakeholder consultation on the various options.
