Making the most of the Northwest Coast

Local Coastal Partnerships had been invited by the North West Coastal Forum to submit proposals for local and sub-regional projects that could deliver economic and wider social benefits whilst protecting and enhancing the region’s natural environment and biodiversity.

TEP reviewed project proposals from a range of partners to assess their suitability and identify any information gaps. Following a Proposers’ Workshop, each project was evaluated against an extensive set of criteria, considering its quality and coherence, value and achievability. The evaluation was supplemented by public benefit assessment (using the Public Benefit Recording System), which aimed to give a strategic overview of projects’ potential social, economic and environmental benefits.

Of the 59 projects submitted for evaluation, 30 projects in excess of £1.9 million met the evaluation criteria and have been included within a projects portfolio.
