Lancashire County Council commissioned TEP to develop a series of local woodland visions, considering social, economic and environmental factors and identifying where woodland planting would be possible and sympathetic to local landscape character.
Local Visions contained a summary description of the local landscape character, the existing woodland resource, key opportunities and constraints for woodland development and an indication of the woodland development priorities, guiding delivery in those areas where greatest positive impact can be achieved.
The development of the local visions were subject to an extensive process of consultation and engagement which underpinned the development of the County-wide Woodland Vision, launched on 6th March 2006 by the Rt. Hon. Lord Clark of Windermere (Chair of the Forestry Commission) and County Councillor Hazel Harding (Leader of Lancashire County Council).
