TEP was commissioned by the Homes & Communities Agency to undertake ecological surveys at the former Whittingham Hospital, Preston.
The ecological surveys commenced with an extended Phase 1 Habitat survey. This identified the need for extensive bat surveys within, under and around the buildings and grounds to identify the winter, summer and autumn use of the site by roosting and foraging bats.
Surveys were completed for other species, such as amphibians, badgers and breeding birds, during the bat survey period.
The results from the surveys have been used to inform the design proposals for the planning process and determine mitigation and compensation requirements within the landscape.
