Mold Road Badgers

TEP was commissioned by Morris Homes and Redrow Homes to carry out ecological surveys of land on Mold Road near Wrexham. Badgers were already known to be present so it was necessary to monitor badger activity within the site and determine an appropriate level of mitigation to minimise disturbance to an active badger sett.

TEP ecologists determined that mitigation works were necessary so a badger licence was obtained from the Countryside Council for Wales. Mitigation undertaken included the temporary closure of an outlier sett, the construction of a new badger sett and the provision of a “badger path” across a great crested newt trapping scheme located between the existing badger sett and the newly constructed sett.
