Countryside Properties commissioned TEP to carry out an ecological assessment of the Federal Mogul industrial site in Rochdale. An experienced ecologist carried out a River Corridor Survey (RCS) of the River Spodden as part of this assessment.
As the River Spodden passes through the site it encounters a number of weirs and culverts and is canalised for long stretches, while to the north and south its condition is more natural. The RCS helps to determine the ecological significance of proposed engineering works at specific points on the river and enables a holistic management plan for the river corridor to be developed.
