TEP was commissioned in February 2022 by the Clwydian Range and Dee Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) team to prepare an Action Plan Report for eight peat sites in the Clwydian Range and Dee Valley AONB. The purpose of the project was to investigate the restoration potential of these sites and identify recommendations for their restoration, including access provision where appropriate.
An extended Phase 1 habitat survey, peat depth survey and record of recreational impacts were undertaken. The habitats on site were also assessed for their suitability to support protected/priority species.
Recommendations for restoration of peat sites and access provision included reinstatement of peat with core rolls, hydro seeding and spreading of heather brash, and provision of new access infrastructure. High level designs and indicative costs for these works were provided as part of this project.
